Virgle E. Cooper, 93, of Muncie, passed away on Wednesday, September 16th, 2026, at Muncie Estates. He was born in Eby, Kentucky, on March 15th, 1933, to William Oscar and Iva (McGlone) Cooper. He married Dorothy Atchley in 1951, and she preceded him in 2019.

Virgle served in the United States Marine Corp, during the Korean War, serving from 1953 to 1955 until he was honorably discharged. He later worked as a setup operator with Ontario Forge Corporation.

Virgle and his wife Dorothy enjoyed running an antique business for over 50 years. He was a long-time member of True Light Baptist Church in Muncie. He loved his family, church friends, traveling, and spending several winters in Gulf Shores.

He is survived by his son, Gary (Deanna) Cooper of Leesburg; daughter Kathy Davis of Muncie; sisters, Martha Swartz and Edna (Gary) Elbon; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Cooper, James Cooper, George Cooper; sister, Audrey Strouse; two grandsons; and son-in-law, Jesse Davis.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd 3, Muncie, IN 47303.

A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Jason Trimble officiating.

A burial will take place at 2:00 pm at Gardens of Memory, Muncie.
