Wanda Dowling, of Muncie, IN, passed on February 4, 2022, in Muncie, surrounded by many of those who loved her the most.
Wanda was born on September 13, 1933 in Muncie, IN to Dale and Thelma Rector. Wanda graduated from Harrison High School in 1951. On August 1, 1952 Wanda married her high school sweetheart, Robert Dowling. Together they had 4 children.
Bob and Wanda were married for 60 years before his passing in 2012. They were avid square dancers with the Friendly Steppers, campers with the Harrison Hikers, and bowlers. Wanda was a proud member of the Red Hat Society.
In Wanda's 88 years of life she accumulated quite the family who loved her dearly. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her 4 children: Steve Dowling (wife: Donna), Debbie New (husband: Joe), Rick Dowling (wife: Sandi), and Doug Dowling (wife: Kelly); as well as 8 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Wanda is also survived by her brother, Ronnie (wife: Kathy) Holloway and her best friend since childhood, Marcia Niccum.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Marilyn Donovan, and her grandson Ryan Berry.
Wanda loved taking her grandchildren camping and attending her grandchildren and great children's events. She was an avid Ball State Basketball and Pacers fan. She enjoyed her euchre club. Her family's holiday dinners will never be the same without Wanda's famous noodles. Wanda was also a member of Antioch Church.
Family and close friends will be celebrating the life of Wanda Dowling on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am 1:00 pm. The service and visitation will both be held at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road, Muncie, IN 47303.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Antioch Church. Donations may be made at the funeral home or mailed to the church at 5009 North County Road 500 West, Muncie, IN 47304.
Wanda's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Signature of Healthcare of Muncie for taking great care of her in her final days.
