Wanda Rose Ward, 76, of Albany, IN, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, IN. She was born on July 10, 1933 in Albany, IN the daughter of Ralph E. and Artemesia A. (Hoover) Jester. She graduated from Albany High School. On October 28, 1950 she married Homer Joe Ward.
Wanda very much loved being a member of The Albany Church of the Nazarene. There she was a board member, taught Sunday school, and arranged dinners as being the Head of Food Service. Wanda also enjoyed cooking for her own family; completing puzzles; and reading.
Surviving relatives include her loving children: Gaylon Lee Ward (wife, Jennie) of Muncie; Susan Stephenson (husband, Kelly) of Muncie; and Sandy Cox (husband, John) of Albany; brothers: Raymond Smith and Robert Smith (wife, Shirley); grandchildren: Gaylon Ward, Jr. (wife, Mandy); Todd Ward (wife, Michele); Jeremy Ward (wife, Shanna); Melissa Alexander (husband, Billy); Jason Barker (companion: Christina); Jenna Barker; Jaimie Barker; Jessica Thornberry (husband, Rodney); and Candace Cox; 16 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 38 years, Homer Ward; and step-mother, Dorothy Jester.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Les Turner will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, 10703 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie. Visitation will be on Monday, February 22, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
