Obituary

Wayman Ward, known to many as "W.W.," age 72, passed away on February 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, sportsmanship, and deep family devotion. Born on August 26, 1953, W.W. was a man who found his greatest joy in the simple things: a quiet morning on the water, a well-played game, and the laughter of his grandchildren.

W.W. was a graduate of Wes-Del High School, Class of 1971, and shortly thereafter served in the United States Army. A hard worker and a leader throughout his life, he was a longtime employee and Union President at Indiana Glass, and later spent over 20 years at ELSA Corporation in Elwood, Indiana. In his community, W.W. was a familiar face on the court and the field, sharing his love for the game as a girls' basketball and softball coach. He mentored young athletes with passion and heart, though he wasn't above sharing a few choice words with the umpire when things weren't going his way.

An avid fisherman, W.W. was most at peace with a rod in his hand. He was a die-hard fan of the Green Bay Packers and the New York Yankees, and he always enjoyed listening to the oldies. W.W. also loved to play cards with friends and family, rarely turning down a game of Casino or Euchre. To start his day, he loved nothing more than a hearty breakfast of biscuits and gravy, bacon and eggs.

Wayman was the beloved son of Ida Mullen and Leland Ward, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Ward.

Wayman's greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his long-time friend and companion, Vickie Strahan; his three devoted sisters: Pamela Gillium (Bruce), Debbie Branscum, and Penny Anacker; and his children: Karenda Bolich (Jeremiah), Justin Dorman, Kari Heffron, and Brooke Seabright (Chad). His legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren who affectionately called him "Papaw": CJ, Ellayna, Allyson, Kaleigh, and Mason, who were the light of his life.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate W.W.'s life at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd 3, Muncie, Indiana 47303, on February 19, 2026. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, and the funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm.
