Wayne Robert Garrett, age 66, passed away on August 28, 2023 at his home in Muncie, Indiana.  Wayne was born on March 8, 1957 in Wenatchee, Washington to parents Robert Wayne Garrett and Donna Lee Garrett.

Wayne was a music teacher for various school districts in Washington and Indiana for 30+ years.  He retired in 2017 from Marion Community Schools.  Wayne was a member of the National Elks Dance Band in Aberdeen, Washington, ISMA (Indiana State Music Association), and the Indiana Music Educators Association.  He acted, sang and played in the pit orchestra for many productions by a local theater group in Washington.  Wayne loved to read, play music, and listen to music.  He was also an avid sports fan and his favorite teams were the Colts, Reds, Mariners, and Seahawks.

Wayne is survived by his daughter, Katie (Andrew) Thompson; his former spouse and close friend, Laurel Garrett; his aunt, Gloria Sawyer; and two grandchildren, Charlotte and Garrett.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Robert Wayne Garrett and Donna Lee Garrett.

A memorial gathering for Wayne will be held at Garden View Funeral Home on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to your local school music education department.
