Wilburn Foster, 79, of Muncie, IN, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2009 peacefully with his family surrounding him. He was born on February 20, 1930 in Yamacraw, KY to the late Charles H. and Flora J. (Tucker) Foster.
Wilburn served two years in the Army, from 1953--1955. He married the love of his life, Marie Page on July 22, 1953. Wilburn was employed by Durham for 22 years, Ball State University in maintenance for 22 years, and Borg Warner as an oiler for 26 years. Mr. Foster retired in 1995.
Wilburn was a member of the Muncie Lodge #433 as well as the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. He was also an avid Kentucky University Wildcat fan; loved to flower garden; took many trips to Las Vegas and the West Coast. But more importantly, Wilburn loved his family very much.
Surviving relatives include his loving wife of 55 years, Marie (Page) Foster; son Mark A. Foster, Sr.; daughters Kathy A. Elliott (husband: Jay S.) and Debra Edwards (husband: Steve), all of Muncie, IN; brother John W. Foster (wife: Darlene) of Muncie; 7 beautiful grandchildren Shadi (Haghani) Lilly (husband: Kevin) of Logansport; Sheyda Haghani of Brooklyn, NY; Brian Edwards (wife: Amanda) of Oakville, IN: Heather Haghani of Denver, CO; Michael Edwards (fianc: Lindsay) of Yorktown, IN; Allison N. Foster (fianc: Nick) of Muncie, IN; Mark A. Foster, Jr of Muncie; and 7 great-grandchildren Taylor Edwards; Cassidy Edwards; Tyler Elliott; Benjamin Edwards; McKenzie Foster; Parker Hensley; and Ava Lilly. Mr. Foster was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers; and 7 sisters.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 16, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3, Muncie, IN. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. by the Muncie Lodge #433. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at the funeral home. Rev. John W. Foster will officiate the service. Entombment will follow in the Gardens of Memory Mausoleum in Muncie. Wilburn will be honored with military rites at the cemetery provided by the Delaware County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions can be made to Ball Memorial Hospice Group or the Little Red Door, both of Muncie, in memory of Wilburn.
