Obituary

Wilfred "Bill" William Brinker, 91, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Wifred and Hariett (Jackson) Brinker, on August 12, 1934, Wilfred's life was marked by a deep love for family, a positive outlook, and a dedication to his work and community.

For many years, Bill worked with pride as a welder at Westinghouse in Muncie, where his skill and dedication were well recognized. He later moved to Fort Wayne in 2010 to live with his sister after his devoted wife, Barbara "Bobbie," had passed away, demonstrating the importance he placed on family and companionship. Wilfred was a faithful member of South Side Nazarene Church until his health began to decline, exemplifying his strong spiritual foundation.

Bill was known for his ever-present smile and loving nature. He treated everyone like family, spreading warmth and kindness wherever he went. He was particularly proud of the great love he held for his grandchildren, which remained a central joy throughout his life.

His hobbies reflected his patient and meticulous nature—he was a master at jigsaw puzzles, woodworking and clock making. He enjoyed fishing, and delighted in playing pinochle and euchre. An avid gardener, Wilfred took great pride in maintaining the best-looking yard, especially his cherished rose bushes, which were a testament to his nurturing spirit.

He leaves behind six daughters: Janice Pannizzo (Robert Bradford), Deborah Marshall (Dean), Anna Kiper, Beckie Brinker, Jayne Powers, and Dawn Gibbs; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will carry forward his legacy of love and positivity.

Wilfred was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara "Bobbie"; sons, William "Bud" Brinker, John Gibbs, and Charlie "Tom" Gibbs; daughters, Katrena Van Pelt and Tammy Harnish; and his sisters, Joan Barkman, Diane Defrain, and Judy Bauer.

A visitation to honor Wilfred’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, located at 10501 IN-3, Muncie, Indiana, 47303. Funeral Services for Wilfred will take place on Thursday, June 25, 2026, also at Garden View Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. Burial will immediately follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie, Indiana.

The family would like to especially thank the members of the Solace Hospice team who diligently and respectfully cared for Bill. They loved and treated him as their own and that meant the world to his family. Also, the family acknowledges the dedicated members of Adams Heritage in Monroeville for their kindness and care."

Wilfred William Brinker's memory will be cherished by all who knew him, remembered as a man who lived with joy, love, and a spirit that touched many lives deeply. His legacy endures through the family and friends who continue to celebrate the richness of his life.
