Willard F. Dishman, 80, of Muncie, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010 at his residence. He was born August 19, 1929 in Sunnybrook, KY, to the late Samuel Cordell and Ova Alice (Bertram) Dishman. Willard served his country during the Korean War as a member of the National Guard and as a Reserve of the Army. On January 3, 1953 Willard married the love of his life, Thelma Stinson in Wayne County, KY.
Willard was employed in the Trucking Department at BorgWarner for 37 ½ years. Willard was also a supporter of all athletic sports, both professionally and locally for his grandchildren. He especially rooted for the Kentucky Wildcats. He also loved to fish and walk with his friends at the mall.
Willard is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Thelma Dishman; their 4 children: Bill Dishman (wife, Monta) of Indianapolis; Steve Dishman of Muncie; David Dishman (wife, Amy) of Muncie; and Pam Koger (husband, Dan) of Muncie; 13 grandchildren: Kate Dishman; Grant Dishman; Kristen Slone (husband, Rob); Kyle Dishman (fianc, Karli Wilson); Caitlin Neidert (husband, David); Lyndsey Hellems (husband, Greg); Brittany Koger (fiance, Eric Kennedy); Cameron Koger; Tate, Teaghan, Tannon, Tynan, and Tyce Dishman; great-grandchild Quinn Slone; and several nieces and nephews.
Willard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sisters.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Rd. 3, Muncie. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Dennis Trimble will officiate the service. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
