Obituary

William E. Perkins, 63, of Muncie, passed away, Saturday morning, July 26th, 2014 at his residence after a long and brave battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig ''s disease). William was born May 8th, 1951 in Muncie, and was the son of the late Clarence and Mary Frances (Rahe) Perkins.
William graduated in 1969 from Muncie Central. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, in which he married Kathy (Perry) Perkins in 1976. William was the most generous man, always giving to others and helping them when needed. He enjoyed golfing, Pizza King Pizza, Miller Lite, Airplanes, Chicago Bears, Chicago White Sox, and listening to his scanner. He loved to grill out. William worked at Fleenors, and the Delaware County Jail. He also worked as a tool and die maker at B&B Tool & Die.
William is survived by his loving wife Kathy Ellen (Perry) Perkins of Muncie; three sisters, Mary Rhoades (Robby) of Parker City, Joann Cargile (Jerry) of Muncie, and Cecily Cooper (Frank) of Muncie; three brothers, Frank Perkins (Becky) of Hixson, TN, Jim Perkins (Marty) of Muncie, and Tony Perkins (Cammy) of Muncie; two aunts Theresa Burtner of Indianapolis, and Jean Rahe of Albany; one uncle Bill Perkins of Fort Wayne; a sister-in-law Linda Perkins of Muncie; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother John Perkins, and a great-nephew Nick Karch.
Funeral services for William will be held, Wednesday, July 30th, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Father Dennis Goth officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29th, 2014 at the funeral home. The family wishes to express special heartfelt thanks to Father Dennis Goth and to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospice for the care given to William. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 820 W Charles St., Muncie, IN 47305, or The ALS Association of Indiana Chapter, 6526 E 82nd Street Suite 115, Indianapolis, IN 46250 or with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
