William H. Dean, 86, of Muncie, died Wednesday morning, May 1st, 2013 at Liberty Village Healthcare. He was born November 4th, 1926 in Lawrenceburg, KY., and was the son of the late Estell H. & Mary Blanche (Sutherland) Dean.
William proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of St. Mary''s Catholic Church and the Dunkirk VFW. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, and he was a proud supporter of the Cincinnati Red''s baseball team. William was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
William is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Charlotte Josephine (Petzel) Dean of Muncie, whom he married February 14th , 1948 ; two children, Heidi Graham and Mike Dean, both of Muncie; six grandchildren, Keith Graham (Mimi) of Apache Junction, AZ., Tanya Siaba (Michael) of Muncie, Kristen Dean of Muncie, Lesley Byrd (Jimmy) of Muncie, Brooke Greer (Jason) of Huntsville, IN, and Stephen Dean of Muncie; two great-grandchildren, Isabella Siaba of Muncie, and Hallie Greer of Huntsville, IN ; two brothers, Lucien Dean (Shirley) of Greenville, IN., and Robert Dean (Marilyn) of Taylorsville, KY; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Jimmy Dean, sister Elizabeth Dean, and a son Robert Dean.
Funeral Services for William will be held Monday, May 6th, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Rev. Dennis Goth celebrant. Family and friends may call Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Burial with military honors conducted by the United States Army and the Delaware County Honor Guard will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, with envelopes provided at the funeral home.
