William L. Elenburg, 81, of Muncie, IN went to be with his Lord Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at Parker Health & Rehab Center, Parker City, IN. He was born on July 11, 1927 in Haleyville, AL the son of Arthur and Nora (Gray) Elenburg. He served in the Army stationed in Pearl Harbor from late 1945 to early 1947. On March 26, 1948 he married Ruth E. (Dickinson) Elenburg.
William enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening. He owned and operated Sinclair Oil and Clark Oil for 30 years. William was also self-employed with Elenburg Home Improvement for 12 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Eastside Missionary Baptist Church. He was a past president of the Indiana Gasoline Retailers Association.
Surviving relatives include his loving wife of 61 years, Ruth E. Elenburg of Muncie, IN; two sons and one daughter, Jerry Elenburg; Gary Elenburg (wife: Alberta); and Sherri Richardson (husband: Robert) all of Muncie, IN; one sister, Lavonia Taylor (husband: Sam) of Double Springs, AL; six grandchildren, Eric and Jason Elenburg; Jared and Jenna Richardson; Tracey Malnofski (husband: Mike) all of Muncie, IN; Shannon Winter (husband: Steve) of Arizona; and five great-grandchildren.
William was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Annie Elenburg; one sister, Mildred Childers, one brother, Vester D. Elenburg.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor Eric Lambert and son Gary Elenburg will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be Friday, April 10, 2009 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Eastside Missionary Baptist Church 100 S.
