William G. Harter Mr. William "Bill" Harter, 93 years young, passed away Monday, March 28, 2022, At Addison Place Assisted Living in New Castle Indiana formerly of Springport, Indiana. He was born October 18, 1928, he was the son of Harry and Imogene "Puckett" Harter. Bill was the Sibling of 2 brothers, Glenn and Charles.
Bill graduated from Middletown High School in 1946, after graduation he served in the U.S. Marine Corp. In 1943 Bill and his father Harry won the World Championship in Horse pulling with his team of horses Roc and Doc. He owned Harter Trucking and a family-owned business Harter Auctioneering. He went to Reish Auctioneering school in Mason City, lowa in 1955. He was in the National Auctioneers Association and was later inducted into the Auctioneers Hall of Fame in 1996.
On July 21, 1967, He married Patsy Ann "Alexander" Harter. She survives. Also surviving are 3 sons, Jimmy Harter of New Castle, IN. Danny Harter of Greensboro, IN, Roderick (Sharan) Harter of Marion, IN. Daughter Debbie (Mike) Highmiller of New Castle, IN. 9 grandchildren, Katie, Megan, Chassey, Jacob, Mathew, Joshua, Nathen, Alex, Myles and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sons Dwayne Harter and Tyrone Harter and a daughter in-law Dana Harter. He had worked most of his life as an auctioneer but also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, gardening and loved watching horse pulls and he also loved boating and fishing with the family. Calling will be Saturday April 2, 2022, from 11am to 1pm at Destiny Christian Center, 5000 E. Centennial Ave. Muncie, IN. 47303. Service will be at 1pm at the church with Pastor Nate officiation. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery at 10703 N. St. Rd. 3, Muncie, IN. 47303.
