William Langdon's Obituary
William E. Langdon, 81, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008 at Ball Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born November 17, 1926 in Muncie, the son of John and Ruth (Dillon) Langdon. Bill was a graduate of Selma High School. He also was a graduate of Ball State University where he received his teaching degree and went to Columbia University in New York for his Masters Degree.
Bill started his teaching career in 1949 at Harrison Township Schools where he taught two years, he also taught two years at Selma High School and one year at Royerton High School. Bill retired in1989 after teaching thirty-five years at Muncie Central High School.
He was a member of Delaware County Retired Teachers Association and Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
Bill was a World War II Navy Veteran serving his country honorably as a Radio Operator.
He loved music, reading novels and poetry. He enjoyed travel and being with friends and family.
Mr. Langdon is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Nola (Oren) Langdon; a son, William E. Langdon Jr., (wife-Vicki), Lincoln, NE; a daughter, Lee Ann McHolland, (husband-Jeff), Selma; grandchildren, Lindsey Shaffer, (husband-Ryan), McCordsville and Jeff McHolland, (wife-Ashley), Fishers, Kelli Langdon, Tom Beckius and Darcy Lindner, all three of Nebraska and Davora Lindner, Seattle, WA; great grandchildren, Campbell Shaffer, Halle McHolland and Paxton Puelz; a brother, John Langdon, (wife-Jane); two sisters, Betty Rogers, (husband-Melvin) and Susan Clark; a brother-in-law, Lowell Cline; a sister-in-law, Katherine Langdon; several nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Cline; and a brother, James Langdon.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie.
Friends may call from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.
