Gaston: William "Bill" Lucas 57, of Gaston passed away Friday evening October 28, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family following an extended illness. The son of Carl F. and Betty J. (Hatfield) Lucas, Bill was born on March 18, 1954 in Muncie, IN. He married Janell (McCord) February 24, 1973 in Muncie.
A 1972 graduate of Wes-Del High School Bill was a retired Muncie Firefighter and member of the International Association of Firefighters Local 1348. He was a member of the Elks Club of Alexandria and was associated with the Sound the Alarm Church.
Bill enjoyed spending summers at Lake Tippecanoe with friends and family.
Surviving besides his wife Janell of 38 years are daughter, Kim (Steve) Boozier of Hartford City, son Mark (Holly) Lucas of Muncie; 2 grandchildren, Mackenzie Crawford and Thomas Boozier; mother Betty J. Lucas of Muncie; 4 brothers, Gary (Lynn) Lucas, Mike Lucas, Terry (Ruth) Lucas and Robert (Kathy) Lucas all of Muncie; sister-in-law and care giver, Tina (Erbie) Bertram; mother-in-law, Marcella (Jeff) Dickey.
Bill was preceded in death by father Carl and daughter, Jill Lucas.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Tuesday November 1, 2011 at Sound the Alarm Church 3100 East McGalliard Road, officiated by Pastor Joey Prewit with burial to follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday October 31, 2011 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 and Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until time of services at the church.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions maybe made to The Jill Lucas Memorial Scholarship Fund at Tusculum College.
