William "Bill" Thomas Martin, 94 of Gaston, passed away, Sunday morning November 6th, 2016 at his home. He was born January 8th, 1922 in Manchester, TN and was the son of the late Fred & Alta (Moris) Martin.
Bill proudly and honorably served his country during WWII in the United States Army. He was a lifelong member of the American Am Vets. He married the love of his life Cora Louise Argo in 1945. Bill graduated from Manchester Central High School in Manchester, TN. He worked for Borg Warner for 30 years and built homes in Muncie for 15 years, after giving up building homes, he decided to become a farmer and he farmed up until his death.
Bill his survived by a son Deryl Martin of Gaston; a daughter Vicki Wright of Muncie; a sister Louise Hurdle; a brother Charles Martin; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death his loving wife Cora Martin; three sisters, Mary Sue Hulan, Ann Nelly, and Fannie Angle; four brothers Harry, Roy, Paul, and Joe Martin.
Funeral Services for Bill will be held Saturday, November 12th, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Garden View Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow with military honors being conducted by the United States Army and the Delaware County Honor Guard in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
