Winifred Grace Millspaugh, 90, lived and worked in Muncie except for a time during World War II when she and her husband Clifford lived and worked in Washington D.C. while Cliff served in the Navy. She was born to Marie and Irvin DePoy on November 9, 1917, she passed away on March 30, 2008.
The Muncie Central High School graduate also attended the Indiana Business College. Her husband since 1941, Cliff, a carpenter, died in 1977. Retired from the offices of Borg Warner''s Warner Gear Division, "Freddy" was a member and long time volunteer at High Street United Methodist Church - and at Avondale Methodist Church before that.
The Millspaughs had two children: Robert "Bob"(Lynn) Millspaugh, Statesville, North Carolina; and Betty J. (Michael) McBride, Muncie, and five grandchildren: Ted L.(Melanie) Johnson, Yorktown, and Jennifer M. (Sean) Waddell, Indianapolis; Tara D. Millspaugh, Seth A. (Melissa) Millspaugh, and Stephanie J. (Jason) Hoyle, all of North Carolina. She is also survived by her 88 year old sister Betty D. Seldomridge. "Freddy" had eight great-grandchildren.
Four days before her sudden death, unaware of what lie ahead, "Freddy" drove her younger sister Betty to see a doctor. No surprise for anyone accustomed to seeing the pair on shopping trips and at restaurants. And to no surprise for anyone who knew "Freddy" - efficient, self-assured, self-supportive and unfailingly kind. A spirited individual, "Freddy" was able to see the good in all people, and was especially excited about the possibility of a female President in her lifetime. On a recent visit to the hair salon she announced she would be voting for Hillary Clinton. She enjoyed a beautiful summer yard, tea parties and Easter egg hunts. She loved her work, and mostly she loved her family.
Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday April 1, 2008 at Garden View Funeral Home 10501 North State Road 3 Muncie, IN. Pastor David Newan will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be on Tuesday April 1, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to High Street United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
